Old and New

A striking contrast of a modern day utility and a post from times forgotten. The holes in the sides lead me to guess it is from a fence. Several of these were spotted on our walk that hot July day. The markers were always at the edges or corners of farm fields. (Either that or the aliens are just biding their time before they return).

Palms Up

Filtered light on a bright day in Florida. As pretty as these trees are they just don't give you a cool shady spot like a big oak.

Lift Off

Eddie got the shot of a lifetime, shortly before the shuttle took off. Thankfully the camera survived.

Evening sky

The downdraft almost looks like a bomb-blast plume. Perhaps its a God-blast plume.

The new fire pit

Broke in the new fire pit last night. Tried a time exposure to see how that would work. Several tries and this is the best. Eight seconds I believe. It was a lovely night for the fire, My Beloved and a half bottle of wine.

Sons of the Union

My historical knowledge of the Civil War is not up to par with that of North of 50. He said this memorial we stumbled upon on a summers day walk of five alabaster tombstones and two GAR markers is in recognition of the Grand Army of the Republic. They are dedicated to those who served in the Union Army.

In case they get lost

After putting up 192,700 utility poles, Larry decided it was time to retire. Pole 192,701 will be installed by Willie.
